WCG USA Online Qualifiers Underway - 06/23/2009 @ 13:20 - United States Skitch

Tonight Area51.cs looks to start their climb through the Counter-Strike 1.6 East Online Qualifiers. With little to no coverage, the World Cyber Games Online Qualifiers have been virtually unknown to the community. Teams that win the WCG Online Qualifiers to advance to the U.S. National Final, which is scheduled to take place September 25-27, 2009 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York, NY during the 2009 New York Anime Festival. Currently compLexity, Evil Geniuses, Ruins, 00, and Gravitas Gaming have all secured their spots in the WCG U.S. National Finals.

Tonight will be the first official match for the Area51.cs squad as they had previously received a bye in Round 1. They are set to square off against SwashBucklers on de_inferno who crushed their previous opponents 16-1 on de_dust2. In my opinion based on recent de_inferno results Area51 should still come out on top do to their strong team play and fragging ability.

The new, revamped CoD4 team is here! - 06/21/2009 @ 12:55 - United States darkk

Many of you may remember the Gotfrag article released earlier regarding the new CoD4 team’s roster. However, with inactivity comes change and that’s exactly what happened here. Frzg was engaged and needed to leave gaming for good, Darkk told the team he would not be able to put in the time needed to compete at a high level and stepped down into a backup role along with Nuz, who was not active enough as well. The team, then, consisted of Jtf2, Kpwnage, Theimpaler, Frizz, and Luke. After the players took a vote, they moved Jtf2 into a backup role because of his inactivity issues and he decided it would be best if he left the team all together. The team then picked up Je$tl0lk as a replacement.

So, here we are. The starting lineup for the new CoD4 team is filled with talent, dedication and drive. They have all competed in at least one CEVO-P season prior to this coming one with teams such as MoB, x3o, backSlash, Check-Six and Guardians. They are also a favorite to win CEVO-P all together, along with Pandemic, MoB and Pure.

The new and improved Area51.CoD4 team:

Travis “kpwnage” Gallo
Andrew “theimpaler” Coons
PierreLuc “Luke`” Soucy
Douglas “frizz-“ Glendenning
Chad “je$tl0lk” Hansen

Marc “sLuT” Dib
Shane “nuz” Carter
Theo “darkk” Tijssen

They will be competing in the fourth season of CEVO-Professional. Thanks goes out to Area 51 Gaming, Midnight Gaming and QPAD USA!

ESEA-CSS Open Week 5 - 06/07/2009 @ 16:28 - United States Skitch

Well week 5 is upon us as we get to see the Area51.css team in some great match ups on de_seasons. After looking at the matches for this week this surely seems like a clash of the titans.

Their first match of the week will be against sexy64 who currently sits at a 7-1 record.sexy64 only loss so far this season came from Packin Heat in week 3 which resulted in a 17-21 final score.

Area51.css second match of the week will have them squaring off against the undefeated Back slash. Back slash has has 3 extremely close matches this season and pretty 5 what I like to call blowouts.

This week surely have these 3 teams leaving it all out on the table (or should I say map) as they all look to improve their records.

Match Information
Area51.css vs. sexy64
Result: 14-16 Loss

Area51.css vs. Back slash

CS 1.6 Team Update - 06/05/2009 @ 12:04 - United States marines079

The CS 1.6 team is at a low point but we’ve been here before and we’re pushing through it. Our ESEA record stands at a dismal 1-7 due to some bad luck and bad plays. I can say that missing out on a year and a half of Pro level play has made me realize that its going to take some time to get back into form but it is going to happen.

The plan is to:

1. Finnish out ESEA-Invite strong so that we can attend the LAN playoffs in Dallas, Texas. Even if we don’t win another game online it is a completely different story on LAN. Though if that scenario did play out and we went to Texas with such a low seed we’d have to play the best team first but I’m confident that we’d plow the lower brackets and make our way up the rankings.

2. Make Cevo Pro.

Cevo season 11 is back in action and with that comes the chance to qualify for the pro division. Teams are selected for this division based on our first season’s performance (top six) and victories in the Professional Placement Tournament (top 10). The Professional Placement Tournament consists of 16 teams in a double elimination, best of three maps format, with the top six (6) advancing to the Professional Division. The ten (10) teams that do not qualify for the Professional Division will play in the Main Division. The Professional Placement Tournament is utilized so as to remove subjective opinions and any influence of people from the selection process. Teams for CEVO-P qualify exclusively based on their proven performance against other top caliber teams.

Round 1 - Thursday, June 18th
Round 2 - Sunday, June 21st
Round 3 - Monday, June 22nd
Round 4 - Tuesday, June 23rd

3. Attend a local NJ LAN (Espot).

It would be nice to attend a local east LAN after being out of the dog fight for a while. Myself, Mehler, Ted and PineKone have been to countless local east LANS together so this would be an easy LAN to attend and one more step to knocking the rust off. The Event Date is July 11th and the 12th at the Espot LAN center in Jersey City, NJ.
